Super Easy Newborn Hands Free Nursing |
With the right approach, a wrap is super easy to nurse in. I'll make the
instructions very precise. Don't let that convince you that the process itself
is complex. (Ever seen the instructions for making a peanut butter and jelly
sandwich?) This takes all of 45 seconds to do!
This is very comfortable and very secure. Baby can stay comfortably latched on
without any help from mama, and can easily stop nursing when full, then latch
back on when hungry again. Baby can sleep this way for hours. It's hardly like
carrying a baby at all -- it's just like having really BIG boobs.
. |
Sit Indian style on the floor with a pillow on your lap, your baby
on a blanket next to you. Spread the center of the wrap across the pillow, with
one tail going off to your right, and one tail going off to your left. |
Take the right tail of the wrap around your back and over the left
shoulder. Take the left tail of wrap around your back and over your right
shoulder. |
Now, you have a pocket of wrap going across the pillow, an X of cloth at your
back, two tails coming over your shoulders, and across the pillow and onto the
floor in front of you and the pillow. |
Pick up your baby, place him on the wrap on top of the pillow.
Notice that the baby is in a pocket of cloth, with cloth between your belly and
hers.
Prepare your shirt and bra. Lean forward,
latch baby on to the LEFT breast. Use the pillow to keep him latched while you
tighten the shoulder pieces.
Pull up on the LEFT strap to tighten the pocket near your RIGHT breast. and move
baby's belly and bottom nice and close to your RIGHT breast. Tuck that LEFT
strap under your LEFT knee to hold the tension. Pick up the RIGHT strap which
is on your RIGHT shoulder to tighten the pocket near his head and to support
him on your LEFT breast. Tuck that RIGHT strap under your knee to hold the
tension.
Now, remove the pillow.
Did baby stay comfortably latched on? If so, untuck the straps from under your
knees, make and x across the baby, and wrap them around your waist.
Notice that I am using the crook of my arm to cradle Baby's head as I finish the wrap.
Tie behind you, or at your hip, or tuck the ends between baby's body and your
belly.
Baby is so secure, you can even lean over to pick something up off the floor (or
tie your shoes) without having to use one hand to hold the baby. Yay for
hands-free breastfeeding!
Enjoy your baby!

You are a Master Babywearer |
In China, it is said that "A master is anyone who knows more than you do." So, you are all master babywearers compared with most of the moms in the world. You do NOT need to know everything there is to know about babywearing -- if you know even ONE carry with even ONE type of carrier, you are in possession of knowledge other moms desperately want -- even if they do not yet know they want it. ;-D Therefore, you should all feel confident enough to teach others! So, pick a public place, pick a day of the week, and start sharing your skills with other families! Then, list yourself here.
