 Happy Baby Minimize

Wrap -- Hip Cross Carry Minimize
  1. Put the center of the wrap on your left shoulder.
  2. Cross the wrap on your right hip.
  3. Tie the ends at your left hip.
  4. Pull the cross away from your body to make room for baby.
  5. Insert baby's legs into the cross. Settled him down in there.
  6. Spread out the diagonal straps to support baby's back.

Which Hip Carry Should You Use? Minimize
Well, that depends on a lot of things. First, what type of carrier do you have? How old is your baby? Does he have good neck and head control? Is he sleepy? Will he want to nurse soon?

Wrap

Hip Cross Carry
For an older baby with good neck control, you may like the Hip Cross Carry. One advantage of this carry is that you can do it with a relatively short wrap.
Front Wrap Cross
For a young baby, a good hip carry is actually the Front Wrap Cross -- with the baby inserted into the wrap all the way over on your hip.

Shawl

If you have a shawl, ring sling or pouch, there are a few variations of how to insert baby into the carrier so that baby is on your hip. The method you choose will depend on the age of your baby.

 A Structured Option Minimize
Not as versatile as a wrap, but if you can have more than one carrier, and would like one just for doing hip carries, this is a nice one.

You are a Master Babywearer Minimize
In China, it is said that "A master is anyone who knows more than you do." So, you are all master babywearers compared with most of the moms in the world. You do NOT need to know everything there is to know about babywearing -- if you know even ONE carry with even ONE type of carrier, you are in possession of knowledge other moms desperately want -- even if they do not yet know they want it. ;-D Therefore, you should all feel confident enough to teach others! So, pick a public place, pick a day of the week, and start sharing your skills with other families! Then, list yourself here.
