Front Torso carries are most useful when you need to hold baby hands
free while you sit down in a chair. For example, while eating dinner at
a restaurant. Imagine you have a Medium Baby who is fed-up with
the high chair and wants to sleep. You can sit baby in your lap, facing
you, legs around your waist, and wrap the cloth around both of you,
tucking it under your bottom to hold it. Now baby can doze while you
finish your meal -- with both hands free. Another great use for the
front torso carry is when you are eating and you want to share tiny
bites with baby, but you don't want baby to touch your hot plate or
knock your soup off the table. Sit baby in your lap, facing out, with
her hands folded in her lap. Wrap the cloth around both of you --
including baby's hands, from the front to the back, then tuck each end
under your bottom. I'm not suggesting you do this every day. Only
occasionally at restaurants or while out visiting. This is especially
helpful when you're eating out at a place that has no high chairs, and
baby is not sleepy and does not want to nurse. ~ Tracy Dower
